Code of Ethics

We, the South West Regional Wound Care Program, respect the people with skin and wound care issues in the HCCSS-SW and the health care system partners we represent:

• We promote person empowerment and the right to self-determination
• We uphold individual liberty and the right to live at risk, so long as the choices do not pose imminent risk to others

We meet all legal requirements and are knowledgeable of all laws, regulations and policy relevant to skin and wound care practices in the HCCSS-SW, including but not limited to:

• The Human Rights Code;
• Personal Health Information Protection Act;
• The Excellent Care for All Act;
• The Broader Public Sector Accountability Act;
• Occupational Health & Safety Act;
• Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act;
• South West Local Health Integration Network's Policies on Conflict of Interest;
• The Long Term Care Home Act;
• The Public Hospitals Act

We are accountable and transparent:

• We conduct ourselves with integrity in an honest and ethical manner
• We, the South West Regional Wound Care Program, put in place adequate internal controls over the use and accountability of public funds (to sustain this Program)
• We ensure that all financial reports (pertaining to the Program) are factually accurate and complete in all material respects to serve the public interest
